Wairakei Charitable Trust was formalised in May 2007, to manage funds provided to Ngā Hapū o Wairakei (‘Ngā Hapū’) from Contact Energy as part of the mitigation agreement relating to the Contact Energy geothermal operations on the Wairakei / Tauhara geothermal system.
